A Romantic Grosse Pointe War Memorial Wedding | Natasha & Rio
Some wedding days feel effortlessly romantic from beginning to end, and Natasha and Rio's wedding at the Grosse Pointe War Memorial was exactly that. With beautiful waterfront views, thoughtful details, and a celebration filled with so much love, their day was everything a summer wedding should be.
Planned by Ines & Marie, who also created the beautiful florals, the celebration brought their romantic vision to life in the most wonderful way. From a relaxed morning at a family member's home to an outdoor ceremony overlooking the water and a lively reception, every part of the day felt personal and thoughtfully considered.
A Sweet Morning Before the Celebration
Natasha began her wedding day at a relative's home, surrounded by the people closest to her. There's something special about getting ready in a familiar place, with family nearby and the excitement of the day slowly building.
Before heading to the Grosse Pointe War Memorial, she enjoyed a sweet, intimate start to the morning. I love these quieter moments before the celebration begins, when everything feels a little slower and the anticipation starts to sink in.
A Romantic Waterfront Ceremony
The Grosse Pointe War Memorial is such a beautiful setting for a wedding, with its elegant architecture, gardens, and stunning views of Lake St. Clair.
Natasha and Rio exchanged vows in the backyard, right beside the water. The setting was already beautiful, but Ines & Marie created the most gorgeous floral arch, adding a romantic touch that felt perfectly at home in the garden.
I love an outdoor ceremony where the natural surroundings become part of the experience. The water, the flowers, and the people gathered to witness the couple's vows created a setting that felt both intimate and timeless.
Cocktail Hour with a View
After the ceremony, guests made their way to the elevated patio for cocktail hour, where they could enjoy the beautiful waterfront views while celebrating with Natasha and Rio.
One of my favorite things about the War Memorial is how effortlessly the spaces flow together throughout the day. From the garden ceremony to cocktails overlooking the water, the venue gives guests the chance to experience different sides of the property while keeping the celebration connected.
Meanwhile, Natasha and Rio had a little moment to themselves before the reception began.
A First Look at Their Reception
Before welcoming their guests into the reception, Natasha and Rio had the opportunity to see the room together for the first time. I always love when couples build a moment like this into their timeline.
After months of planning, choosing details, and imagining how everything would come together, finally seeing the finished space can be such a special experience. It's a chance to pause, take it all in, and appreciate the atmosphere before the room fills with guests.
With Ines & Marie's romantic vision woven throughout the day, the reception was the perfect continuation of their waterfront celebration.
A Night of Speeches, Dancing, and Espresso Martinis
The reception began with heartfelt speeches, a cake cutting, and plenty of moments shared with family and friends. Then Blue Water Kings took the stage, and the evening shifted into party mode.
Natasha surprised everyone with an outfit change, ready to enjoy the dance floor in a new look. And because every great party deserves a little something extra, the couple also had an espresso martini tower!
Between the live music, the drinks, and the energy of the crowd, the dance floor was the perfect ending to such a beautiful day. I love when couples make room for these playful details. They bring so much personality to a wedding and give guests something fun to remember long after the night is over.

Natasha and Rio's wedding was a beautiful reminder that the most memorable celebrations combine a stunning setting with thoughtful details and the people who matter most.
With its waterfront gardens, elegant architecture, and romantic atmosphere, the Grosse Pointe War Memorial is a wonderful choice for couples planning a wedding in Metro Detroit. From an outdoor ceremony beside the water to a lively reception filled with music and dancing, the venue offers so many opportunities to create a celebration that feels entirely your own.
As a Detroit wedding photographer, I love documenting weddings as they naturally unfold, capturing not only the beautiful details but also the fleeting moments in between: the excitement before the ceremony, the way a couple looks at their reception room for the first time, and the joy of a dance floor filled with their favorite people.
Natasha and Rio, thank you for letting me be part of such a beautiful celebration. Your wedding was romantic, joyful, and full of personality, and it was such a pleasure to capture it all.
