Skin Care 101: The Feeling of Clean

Hey Divas,

Class is in session! Today we are going to get into the niddy gritty of your Skin Regime. After reading this post, you should learn some cool tricks and be more diligent in your routine. Cleansing is the biggest part of your Skin Care!!! Here is the stepping stone to that healthy year-round glow you want from within. We are talking without highlighters, of course!

There are a few ways I like to remove the layers of makeup. Of course, you have the traditional makeup wipes. I would use a wipe to get as much off as I can. Then I add EVOO (Extra Virgin Olive Oil) to the same wipe. To combat those waterproof mascara, eyelashes, bold or dark eyeshadow, stubborn eyeliners and lipsticks. Once that's done I pat dry my face with tissue and apply a cleansing balm. PLEASE do not forget your LIPS. Take your time with cleansing balms. Please, Please, Please read the instructions and Follow them to the T. I know we all like to customize our products to our own liking. Companies have been listening and can pretty much feel out what the "norm" behavior is for most consumers. If you don't go back to school days and really follow directions. It will be between a dirty face vs a  no more makeup face. Once you have all that pretty makeup off. We can move on to our cleanser.

With a damp face, I apply a few drops of cleanser to my fingers. Massage for 30 seconds or so. Then I go in with a damp Clarisonic Mia 2. I like to start with my cheeks and nose, chin and neck, then forehead and outer perimeter of my face. With each section, I wait until the brush stops vibrating and continue to the next section. I rinse my face with lukewarm to warm water. Here is where you can say I'm extra or doing too much. My face is now clean and free. The extra step is adding a scrub. (Use a gentle one on mask days.) On any other day, I use a gritty one like MAC Mineralized Volcano Ash Exfoliator. Exfoliating on a regular basis is great deal for keeping those textures at bay. If you are having an acne attack, hormonal breakout and/or medicinal reason. You can skip this part until that area is healed completely. We don't want to further irritate your skin. PAT dry your face. DON'T RUB.

Masking it up comes next. I would recommend about once or twice a week. Alternating between moisturizing and problematic masks is key. We want our face to be balanced. Just like our hair.
Let's talk products!!! Neutrogena, Simple and MAC has some awesome wipes with all sorts of different purposes. Trick: if a wipe doesn't remove makeup enough for you add some EVOO. My favorite cleansers are from Michael Todd, pure African Black soap, and GlamGlow. Michael Todd is awesome for sensitive skin. For masks there are a Huge variety out there. Just make sure you have 2 different types. A gentle one like Michael Todd's Jojoba Charcoal facial scrub. Also, a gritty one like Lush's Ocean Salt.

I hope I have brought some perspective to your new Skin care regimen. We are heading into Winter. This is the time where your skin needs to be nourished, hydrated and pampered. That way when summer comes along your hard work will pay off. To not only bare that teeny bikini but that gorgeous face!
